Monkey King

I borrowed the DVD 'Monkey King' from my colleague.
Originally, it is a Japanese TV program broadcasted more than 25 years ago.
So I could enjoy watching it with afresh feeling.

In the programs, only the title song has Japanese contents, whose name is "Gandhara" played by 'Godiego'.
The name of Sanzo in Japanese is translated as Tripitake which is totally unfamiliar to me.
NB : the table describing relation between Japanese and English expressions in Monkey King.

It is pretty funny that now I can figure out the cut scene for main actor 'Masaaki Sakai' is captured in the swimming pool separately from the underwater scene which must be acted by a stunt man.

会社の同僚が西遊記のDVDを貸してくれた。
もう25年以上も前の番組で、断片的な記憶しか無いので新鮮な気持ちで楽しめた。

日本語が辛うじて存在するのはゴダイゴのガンダーラの歌のみ。
三蔵法師がTripitakaなんて訳の分からない名前になっているのが興味深い。

今見ると孫悟空が水中で妖怪と戦うシーンがあるのだが、どうみてもブーツがフィンになっているし、
堺正章だけプールの中で別撮りされているのが丸分かりで微笑ましい。
四半世紀の時を越えてスタントマンの苦労が偲ばれたのは感慨深い。
