Hash & Sharp

So far I didn't know # should be pronounced as 'Hash'.
Because it is normally called as 'Sharp' or 'number' in Japan.

今まで＃はシャープもしくはナンバーとしか読まないものと思っていた。
調べたところプログラム用語では＃をハッシュ記号とも読むようだけど。

The reason why I would like to take a note for this, I got a chance to hear 'hash' so many times at the instruction for passcode entering to a certain device.
I searched info in Google with the keyword 'What's Hash' in Japanese, but no candidates can be displayed.

何でこんなことを書いたかと言えば、電話機のシャープにあたるボタンは、英語でハッシュと呼ばれていることを知る機会があったからだ。暗証番号を押してハッシュ、みたいな感じで。
「ハッシュ記号とは」、でgoogleを検索しても「該当するページが見つかりませんでした」と表示されるのだから、あまり知られていないことだとは信じたい。

Although this is redundant addition, I got to know the word 'fire hydrant' which is called as 'Syouka-sen' in Japanese.

蛇足だが、消火栓がfire hydrantと呼ばれることも今日知った。
